Caption: Competing side by side in randomly selected pairs at a large blackboard, mathematics graduate student Jeremy Rouse was one of 14 student finalists racing to complete calculus equations during the university's first-ever Math Integration Bee. Held in Sterling Hall before approximately 50 spectators, the event was sponsored by the physics department and the Wonders of Physics program, and intended to generate excitement and encourage students to learn more math skills. Four rounds and 35 integrals later, mathematics graduate student Boian Popunkiov was announced the "Grand Integrator of Madison" and awarded a $100 grand prize, donated by the University Book Store.
